MOISSANITE: Made from silicon carbide, moissanite is a lab-created gem that is often used as a diamond alternative because of its durability, sparkling appearance, and affordable price tag. Moissanite was first discovered in a meteor crater in 1893 by a scientist named Henri Moissan. 

Today, moissanite is extremely rare and almost exclusively growing in laboratories as an alternative to diamonds. Created in a controlled environment with advanced technology, it is easily traceable and requires no mining. This means moissanite has a smaller carbon footprint and lessened environmental impact than a naturally mined gem.  

Moissanite is often used as a diamond simulant, being the second most durable gem (9,25 Mohs Scale of hardness). This is why they are a great "diamond" alternative.       

Distinguishing moissanite and diamond based on brilliance and fire isn't reliable; unless you have experience in the jewelry industry, you wont be able to tell the difference just based on appearance.
